As I've been trying to follow You much closer, to almost walk with You the last two weeks when I knew the time was so close, I've been listening to a lot of Eugene Peterson. Well, basically I listened to one conference he said. But the session was called "The Contemplative Pastor," and Eugene spent most of the time talking about how to avoid the views that saturate our modern religious and secular world.
First of all, let your actions, words, deeds, all that you do, be focused and personal. Not a show for the big crowd, in fact, maybe you shouldn't ever really have a big crowd, he almost suggested. Second, let your language be that of story and invitation to participation. Let it be creative. But certainly still personal.
So, that's what I'm going to try to focus on as I teach Bible this week and go about my day. Lord, the other thing is that I need Your help in trying to live without the dualism or religious and secular. It's really difficult to even know how. Again, help me to achieve.
And last request of all Lord, "Speak to me, speak through me. Amen."
